Roughing it is about three men who wander the far western United States for a few years in the 1800s. This book focuses more on things that were going on at that time in history ( such as silver mining fever ) than on the main characters. In this book, they traveled on covered wagons that delivered mail from town to town. In these towns, they heard stories about people, such as Slade the Terrible and Brigham Young.

I personally did not think this was that good of a book. One reason is that it is difficult to keep track of what is going on. The other reason is said or described about the main characters or any other details like that, which sort of made the story boring.
